Baseball Falls To Nationally-Ranked Kutztown 22-7 In Builder Invitational

HAMPTON, VA. - Senior Jonathan Dehoux went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs, while junior Andre Nichols went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and drove in two as the Apprentice School lost 22-7 to NCAA Division II nationally-ranked Kutztown University in the Builder Invitational on Friday.

The Bears jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the top of the fourth before the Builders cracked the scoreboard.  Dehoux smacked his first home run of the season to right-centerfield to cut the deficit to 7-1.  His three runs driven in today pushed his career total to 161 to set the all-time record.

Kutztown responded with seven runs in the fifth to push the lead to 14-1 as Shayne Houck smacked a three-run home run down the left field line.  He ended the day going 4-for-7 with eight runs batted in.

Apprentice School pushed a run across in the sixth as freshman Josh Wilson hit his first collegiate home run in his first collegiate at bat to make the score 14-2.  The Builders scored four in the seventh cutting the deficit to 14-6 as Nichols drove in a pair with a triple to highlight the outburst.

Kutztown, who entered the game ranked 28th in the latest national rankings by Collegiate Baseball, put hope away in the top of the eighth as they pushed across eight runs.

The Builders will play twice on Saturday in the invitational as they'll face Briarcliffe College at noon and Lock Haven University at 3 pm.
