HAMPTON, VA. -- The Apprentice School baseball team lost 5-1 on Sunday to Briarcliffe College to close out its three-game weekend series at War Memorial Stadium.
Briarcliffe jumped out first scoring a pair of runs in the third inning and plating another in the fourth as Reggie Smith singled in Dave Darcy for a 3-0 lead.
Apprentice School answered with a run in the fourth as Josh Tuck started with a double and later scored on an Andrew Yonta groundout.
The Seahawks pushed a run across in the fifth on a solo home run from Kevin Licul and another one in the eighth for the 5-1 win.
Five Builders had a hit each in the contest as Coire Barnitz took the loss throwing 7.1 innings allowing nine hits and striking out three. Four Seahawks had a pair of hits to lead Briarcliffe.
The Builders now will travel to Elizabeth City, NC on Wednesday to face College of The Albemarle at 3 pm.
