Four Builders Named To USCAA All-American Teams

Four Apprentice School baseball players were named on Sunday night to the 2010 U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association All-American teams at the pre-tournament banquet in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

Three players were named to the All-American team in seniors Jonathan Dehoux, Dory Fields and junior Andrew Yonta, while fellow junior Ryan Wagner earned honorable mention honors.

Dehoux earns his third USCAA All-American honor after a record setting senior season.  The Mathews, Va. native is currently leading the USCAA in hits (63), home runs (13), RBI (58) and just broke the Builder single season home run record at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on May 1 with a grand slam.  He became the first Builder player in history to have over 200 hits and 200 RBIs for a career and currently holds or shares 26 school records.

Fields earned his second USCAA honor as he exploded this season leading the team in batting average (.407), second in hits (61) and RBI (52).  He opened the season with a record-tying 5-hit performance against NCAA Division II Bloomsburg University and drove in a career-best six runs against NCAA Division II Lock Haven University.  The Virginia Beach, Va. native has eight outfield assists this year.

Yonta earns his first USCAA honor with a solid junior season.  The Midlothian, Va. native is third on the team in batting average (.366), tied for third in home runs (4) and fourth in RBIs (35).  He's had 11 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games while handling left field this year.  He tied the school single-game hits record with a 5-for-5 performance with four RBIs in a home win over College of The Albemarle.

Wagner earns his first USCAA honor as well with his junior performance.  The Yorktown, Va. native is batting .358 with 43 hits, 15 doubles, one homr run, 32 RBIs amd a team-leading 35 walks.  He's had either a hit or a walk in all but two games this season.  Wagner has had 11 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games with a four hit performance against Fulton-Montgomery and three 3-RBI games to lead that group.

In the home run derby held earlier Sunday afternoon, Dehoux became the third Builder to win the title as he hit four home runs in the final round to win the title.  He was the first round leader after hitting four to advance to the finals.  Tony Brown and Ryan Scott were the previous Apprentice School winners of the event.

The Builders will open USCAA Tournament action on Monday at 1:30 pm against the winner of Clark State CC (Oh.) and NHTI of Concord, N.H. at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.  You can follow livestats at http://livestats.prestosports.com/uscaa
