HAMPTON, VA. – A Willie Nelson single with two outs in the top of the tenth proved to be the winning run as Washington Adventist defeated the Apprentice School 3-2 on Monday night at War Memorial Stadium.

The Shock started the scoring with a John DeGomez solo home run in the second and took a 2-0 lead on a Michael Carney RBI single in the third to score Colin Sallee.  Apprentice School answered with a solo home run from Josh Tuck in the fourth and tied the game on a bases loaded walk to Corey Gallaway in the eighth inning.

In the tenth, Justin Czyrklis singled and took second on an error before advancing to third on a ground out.  Nelson followed with his single to left field to plate Czyrklis.  Apprentice School got Tuck to second with a double in its half of the tenth but a lineout double play to shortstop ended the game.

Coire Barnitz was the tough luck loser throwing four innings and striking out seven while allowing two hits.  Tuck was 3-for-5, while Chris Kennedy was 2-for-5 for the Builders who were held to six hits by Neil Jay Croft who went the distance for Washington Adventist for the win.

Apprentice School (18-12) now faces College of the Albemarle in a single game at 3 pm in Elizabeth City, NC on Wednesday.
