Baseball Loses 10-4 To Kutztown In Day Two Of Builder Invitational

HAMPTON, VA. – Visiting Kutztown University scored six runs in the fifth inning and held off a flurry from the Apprentice School for a 10-4 victory on Friday afternoon in the 18th annual Builder Invitational.

The Golden Bears scratched a run in the second inning as Brett Hauck singled in Brad Stoudt who ripped a one-out triple to right field.  They pushed two more across in the third inning as Cody Montz smashed a two-run home run to left-center.

In the fifth, Kutztown erupted for six runs as Brad Stoudt drove in a pair with a double to highlight the six-run inning which put Kutztown up 9-0.

The Builders pushed four runs across in the bottom of the seventh as Chris Scarola drove in Lee Rossi on a sacrifice fly and Andrew Hooper cleared the bases with a three-run double to left field to cut the deficit to 9-4.

Trevin Wilson topped the Builders at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance as the team was out-hit 13-6 by Kutztown.  Freshman Ryland Edwards took the loss throwing four innings and allowing five hits.  Four Kutztown players had two hits each to lead the Golden Bears.

Apprentice School now plays a doubleheader on Saturday facing Briarcliffe at noon and Lock Haven University at 3 pm.
