Baseball Sweeps Southern Maine CC

HAMPTON, VA. – The Apprentice School baseball team swept a doubleheader from U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association member Southern Maine CC 13-1 and 28-0 at War Memorial Stadium on Sunday.

In the opener, Chris Perry threw five innings allowing three hits and striking out nine as the Builders scored nine runs in the first three innings en route to the 13-1 win.  Trevin Wilson was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and Andrew Hooper was 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to lead a 16-hit attack.

Game two saw Travis Franklin throw five innings of one-hit ball and struck out five as the Apprentice School scored nine runs in the first inning to take the victory.  Justin Hike, Chris Scarola and Wilson had two hits each while Wilson drove in five runs and the tandem of Hayden Champigny and Devorn Lake drove in three runs apiece.

Apprentice School will face the Seawolves again on Tuesday at 2 pm at War Memorial Stadium.
