HAMPTON, VA. – The Apprentice School closed out a four-game weekend homestand with a doubleheader split against St. Vincent's College losing the opener 2-0 and winning the nightcap 5-2.

Freshman Sam Massie went the distance in his second collegiate start allowing five hits and striking out eight for the win.  The Builders started scoring in the first as Trevin Wilson reached on an error and scored on a triple from Chris Aldridge.  Ryan Hendrickson drove in Aldridge later in the inning with a two-out single.

In the second, Zach Harding blasted a one-out home run to left field to put the Builders up 3-1.  In the fourth, the Builders scored two more as with one out, Wilson doubled in Chris Scarola and later scored on a single from Devorn Lake.

St. Vincent's plated runs in the second on a triple from Alonzo Vasquez and in the sixth on a RBI single from Mike Hustava.  The Bearcats made one push in the seventh with two outs as Brad Burkardy singled and Zach Bush walked, but Massie struck out Andrew Kozusko to end the game.

Aldridge and Harding had a pair of hits each in the nightcap as the Builders out-hit the Bearcats 9-5 as the Builders went to 12-9 with the split.

In the opener, the Builders were shutout by Jared Haller who spread out seven hits and struck out four in a complete game victory.  St. Vincent's scored a run in the first on a RBI single from Joey Fearer to score Mike Hustava.  In the fifth, Zach Bush hit a one-out double and scored on a single from Andrew Kozusko.

The Builders got a pair of runners to third in the game as in the first, Trevin Wilson opened with a single and advanced on a bunt from Chris Aldridge.  He advanced to third on a groundout but was stranded.  In the seventh, Andrew Hooper singled and went to third on a two-out single from Chris Scarola before a strikeout ended the game.

Apprentice School takes the field again on Monday to start a three-game series with Fulton-Montgomery College with a 1 pm doubleheader at War Memorial Stadium.
