HAMPTON, VA. – The Apprentice School swept a doubleheader on Monday from visiting Fulton-Montgomery Community College winning the opener 10-5 and taking the nightcap 8-2 at War Memorial Stadium.

In the opener, the Builders gave up four runs in the first inning and cut that deficit in half with a two-run bottom of the first.  Devorn Lake doubled in Trevin Wilson and Chris Aldridge to start the comeback.

Apprentice School scored a run in the second as Zachary Harding started the inning with a solo home run, his second in two games for the Builders.  After giving up a run in the third, the Builders tied the game at 5-all with a pair of runs in the fourth on a RBI double from Aldridge and a groundout from Lake.

The Builders broke the game open with four runs in the fifth as Harding drove in Ryan Hendrickson with a single and scored on a two-run double from Chris Perry to highlight the outburst.  Harding drove in the final run of the game with a single in the sixth to score Matt Zapf who singled earlier in the inning.

Harding was 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead an 11-hit attack for the Builders, while Lake drove in three runs to lead eight Builders who had one hit each.  Will Miller threw the final three innings to earn his second win of the year allowing two hits and striking out three.

In game two, the Raiders scored a run in the first before the Builders put two across in the second and third innings.  Chris Scarola drove in the second run in the second with a single to score Harding as the first run scored on a throwing error.  Jordan Cowles doubled in a pair in the third which put the Builders up 4-1.

Apprentice School gave up a run in the fifth and broke the second game open with four runs in the sixth.  Scarola singled in Harding who started the inning with a single.  Wilson drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Lake ended the scoring with a single to score Aldridge to lead the outburst.

Travis Franklin threw five innings to earn the victory striking out five and allowing five hits.  Lake, Cowles and Scarola had two hits each while Cowles and Scarola drove in a pair of runs apiece.

These teams will close out a three-game series on Tuesday night at 5 pm with a single-game at War Memorial Stadium.
