Baseball Finishes Second In Home Invitational With 16-5 Win Over Briarcliffe

HAMPTON, VA. -- The Apprentice School baseball team closed out a waterlogged Builder Baseball Invitational on Sunday as they defeated Briarcliffe College 16-5 to finish second in the tournament at War Memorial Stadium.

Trevin Wilson was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and drove in a pair to lead three with three hits or more as the Builders scored a run in every inning against their U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association rivals from Bethpage, NY.

Chris Aldridge was 3-for-6 with three runs scored and drove in three, while Devorn Lake also was 3-for-6 and drove in two as the Builders had 18-hits in the game.

Chris Perry picked up the win throwing three innings of relief with three strikeouts and only allowing one hit.  Ryland Edwards was the starter and went the first four innings before Sam Massie and COlton Copeland threw a scoreless inning each to close the game.

Kutztown University won the 2013 Builder Invitational going 3-0 on the weekend with the Builders coming in second after losing 5-2 to Kutztown on Friday.  Bloomsburg took third after losing 2-0 to Kutztown in Sunday's opening game.

The Builders return to action on Thursday at 2 pm when they face Rappahannock CC in a single-game at War Memorial Stadium.
