Baseball Tops Rappahannock 4-1

HAMPTON, VA. – Junior Chad Gurganus threw seven innings and struck out seven while allowing four hits as the Apprentice School held off Rappahannock CC 4-1 on Thursday at War Memorial Stadium.

The Builders struck for a run in the second as Chris Perry singled in Mark Labrador who started the inning with a double.  In the third, Chris Aldridge and Labrador each had run-scoring singles to put the hosts up 3-0.

Rappahannock pushed a run across in the top of the fifth, but in the bottom the Builders answered as Trevin Wilson reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

Chris Scarola and Labrador had two hits each for the Builders as Gurganus got the win.  Sophomore Sam Massie pitched the ninth inning to earn the save.

Apprentice School faces Southern Tech Academy on Saturday for a 1 pm doubleheader at War Memorial Stadium.
