Builders Pull Away To Top SeaWolves 10-4

HAMPTON, VA. – Junior catcher Zach Harding smashed a two-run double to highlight a six-run fourth inning as the Apprentice School pulled away from visiting Southern Maine CC for a 10-4 win on Tuesday night at War Memorial Stadium in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association contest.

The visiting SeaWolves put three runs across in the top of the third inning as Devin Lyshon singled in a run and two more scored courtesy of two Apprentice School errors.

In the fourth, the Builders got an RBI single from Cody Seals, a run scoring ground out from Devorn Lake and the two-run double from Harding along with two runs scoring on errors to take the 6-3 lead.  They scored two more in the fifth as Harding drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to score Brock Harris who started the inning with a single.  Trevin Wilson then drove in Seals with a single for an 8-3 lead. Apprentice School pushed two more across in the bottom of the eighth scoring on a wild pitch and a passed ball.

Junior Chris Perry picked up his third win of the year throwing 2.1 innings of relief allowing no hits and striking out one.  Taylor Gomer and Colton Copeland each threw a pair of innings in relief of starter Kyle Clark for the Builders.  Wilson was 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, while Harris and Seals had a pair of hits each.

These teams were scheduled to have played two games on Tuesday, but with the rain of the day it was moved to a single-game.  The second game will be played on Wednesday afternoon at 1 pm at War Memorial Stadium as the Builders continue a home stretch of six games in six days.
