Builders Fall 9-3 To Castleton State

HAMPTON, VA. -- Visiting Castleton State broke open a close game with a five-run fourth inning and took a 9-3 victory over the Apprentice School on Friday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium.

Connor Hoagland drove in two runs with a single, while Matt McNamee and Dan Errico each singled in a run to highlight the five-run outburst from the Spartans.  Castleton starter Adam Greenlese didnt allow a hit until the fourth inning and picked up the win throwing seven innings with six hits, two runs, two walks and two strikeouts.

The lead grew to 9-0 as McNamee cleared the bases with a two-out triple in the seventh inning.  On the day he was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Apprentice School stopped the scoreless streak with two runs in the seventh as with two outs, three straight doubles from Lee Rossi, Cody Seals and Chris Scarola plated both runs.  In the ninth, the Builders scored as Scarola singled in Labrador who opened the inning reaching on an error.

Scarola and Rossi had two hits each for the Builders as Chris Perry took the loss to drop his record to 3-1 on the year.

The Builders return to action on Saturday at noon facing St. Vincent's College in the middle game of a three-game schedule at War Memorial Stadium.  Starting at 9 am, Castleton State will face Tufts University and at 3 pm, St. Vincent's will face Tufts.
