Five-Run Tenth Lifts Builders Over Danville CC 12-7

FINAL SCORE: Apprentice School 12, Danville CC 7 (10 innings)

WHERE: Dan Daniel Park – Danville, VA.

IN BRIEF:  A two-run triple from Trevin Wilson highlighted a five-run tenth inning as the Apprentice School rallied to defeat Danville CC and extend its winning streak to seven in a row.

GAME NOTES

  • The Builders took an early lead as they scored a run in the third on a one-out Zach Harding single to score Chris Scarola who reached on a fielders choice and advanced on a balk.
  • After giving up a run in the fifth, the Builders put two on the board in the sixth on a RBI single from Chris Aldridge and a sacrifice fly from Lee Rossi.
  • That started a wild two innings where the Builders scored two in the top of the sixth and Danville matched it in the bottom of the inning.  In the top of the seventh, the Builders scored four runs on only one hit and all with two outs.  Cody Seals drove in a pair with a two-run double and two more scored on an error.  Danville tied the game again with four in the bottom of the seventh.
  • Sam Massie came into pitch with one out in the seventh and after giving up a pair of singles, he got a strikeout and a groundout to stop that threat.  Danville had a chance to win it in the ninth with runners at second and third with one out, but Massie got a pop up to him and a strikeout to force extra innings.
  • In the tenth, the Builders broke it open as nine batters in the inning produced five runs.  A bases loaded walk to Scarola put them ahead 8-7 and then Harding reached on an error which plated two more.  Trevin Wilson then ripped his triple to score two more for the 12-7 lead.
  • Massie got the Knights in order in the bottom of the tenth for his fourth win in five decisions.
