Bloomsburg Tops Builders 9-1 For Third Place In Invitational

EVENT: 20th annual Builder Invitational

IN BRIEF: Damin Muth was 2-for-4 with three RBI for Bloomsburg as the Huskies defeated the Apprentice School 9-1 for third place in the Builder Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

ON THE FIELD: Bloomsburg scored a run in the first inning on a Muth single to score Brad Smith.  In the fifth, the Huskies erupted for five runs as Tim Kurucz drove in one with a single and Muth drove in a pair with one.

The Builders were without a hit until two outs in the fifth inning as freshman Thomas Dudley beat out an infield single with two outs. 

Apprentice School scratched a run across in the eighth inning on a pair of hits.  With one out, Chris Aldridge beat out a bunt single and went to second on a Jordan Cowles single.  After a strikeout and a walk to Brian Belvin, the Builders scored on a balk to plate Aldridge.

Bloomsburg put three more on the board in the top of the ninth with two coming on run-scoring singles from Joey Casselberry and Brad Smith to lead 9-1.

BOXSCORE NOTES

  • Aldridge was 2-for-4 with a run scored as he had two of the six hits on the game for the Builders.
  • Sophomore Kyle Clark took the loss throwing 5.1 innings with four hits, four runs scored and two strikeouts.
  • Four Huskies had two hits each in aid of Matt Jaskolka who threw six innings with three hits allowed and four strikeouts for the win.

The Builders are scheduled to host College of Albemarle on Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm at War Memorial Stadium.
