IN BRIEF: The Builders closed out a five-game week with a split of a doubleheader defeating USCAA member College of St. Joseph's 4-2 and falling to NCAA Division III power Tufts University 9-5.

HOW THEY SCORED – COLLEGE OF ST. JOSEPH'S

• The Builders got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the second inning.  Lee Rossi reached on an error and advanced to second on a fielder's choice by Collin Wilber.   Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and Rossi later scored on a sacrifice fly from Jordan Cowles for a 1-0 lead.
• Jacob Countiss followed with a single to center and took second on the throw home that Wilber beat for a 2-0 lead.  Brock Harris then slapped a single to left field to score Countiss to put the hosts up 3-0.
• In the sixth, the Saints scratched a run as Tyler Pavone hit a two-out single to center.  He stole second and took third on a wild pitch before Connor Martin reached on an error to plate Pavone.
• The Builders answered with a run in its half of the sixth as Rossi started with a walk and stole second before moving to third on a fly out from Wilber.  Richardson followed with an infield single to score Rossi for a 4-1 lead.
• The Saints put up a run in the top of the seventh as Jordan Matos started with a hit by pitch and went to third on a double from Tyler Demers.  Will Hampson drove in Matos with a groundout to cut the deficit to 4-2.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

• Junior Taylor Gomer threw seven innings of two-hit ball and struck out a career-best 12.  The hit by Pavone in the sixth inning was the first allowed by Gomer.   Senior Sam Massie came in to earn the save throwing two innings and striking out four.
• Six Builders had a hit each, while four different ones drove in a run as the Builders out-hit the Saints 6-2.

HOW THEY SCORED – TUFTS

• Tufts put a pair of runs on the board in the top of the first as with one out Harry Brown singled and scored as Cody McCallum doubled down the left field line to score Brown.  Tommy O'Hara followed with an infield single to third base and Bryan Egan was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Michael McLaughlin drew a walk to plate O'Hara for a 2-0 lead.
• Apprentice School cut it in half with a run in the home half of the first as Brock Harris walked and stole second before moving to third on a groundout.  He scored as Ryan Hendrickson slapped a single to right field.
• The Jumbos pushed the advantage to 5-1 with three runs in the third on a RBI single from Nick Barker, a fielder's choice by Boomer Saraga and a bases loaded walk to Brown.
• In the home half of the third, the Builders scratched another run as Jacob Countiss started with a double and scored on a two-out single from Hendrickson.
• The comeback started for the Builders in the seventh with a pair of runs.  Cody Norris started with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch.  A walk to Countiss and a bunt single to Harris loaded the bases before Mark Labrador ripped a two run single through the left side trimming it to 5-4.
• Apprentice School tied it with a run in the bottom of the eighth as with one out Thomas Richardson drew a walk and went to second on a single to Norris.  A groundout moved both runners up before Countiss reached on an error that scored Richardson and tied the game.
• In the ninth, the Jumbos broke loose for four runs as Matt Moser's two-run single put them ahead 7-5.  A passed ball plated the third run while Barker executed a suicide squeeze to score the fourth run.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

• O'Hara and Moser had two hits apiece for the Jumbos, while O'Hara scored three runs.  Moser and Barker drove in a pair apiece for Tufts who were coming off a 20-0 win over College of St. Joseph's (VT) in the second of three games at the stadium.
• Sperios Varinos took the win for the Jumbos throwing the last 2.2 innings allowing a run on a hit with two strikeouts.
• Hendrickson and Norris had two hits apiece for the Builders, while Hendrickson and Labrador drove in a pair of runs apiece.  JP Anthony took the loss throwing one inning and allowing two hits and two runs.
