IN BRIEF: The Apprentice School broke out of a mild hitting slump on Thursday night smashing 16 hits en route to a 12-1 win over College of the Albemarle on Alumni Night at War Memorial Stadium.
HOW THEY SCORED

• The Builders put up a pair of runs in the second inning as a pair of walks to Christian Burton and Collin Wilber sandwiched a base hit by Jacob Countiss to load the bases.  A double play ball brought in Burton, while Thomas Richardson followed by reaching on an error to score Countiss for the 2-0 advantage.They put up the same number in the bottom of the third inning also taking advantage of one error.  With one out, Mark Labrador singled and stole second before Ryan Hendrickson was hit by a pitch.  Lee Rossi followed with a single to score Labrador for a 3-0 lead.  A fly ball to right field by Burton turned into an attempted double-play by the Dolphins but their throw to first was kicked into the Builders dugout allowing Hendrickson to score to lead 4-0. 
• In the fifth, the Builders doubled their lead with a four-run inning.  With one out, Hendrickson was hit by a pitch again and went to second on a walk to Burton.  Countiss followed with a single to plate Hendrickson and he went to second on an error.  Wilber greeted a new Dolphin pitcher with a double down the left field line to score Countiss and Burton.  Jordan Cowles then followed with a single to score Countiss to put the hosts up 8-0.
• Apprentice School put two more runs on the board in the sixth as Labrador singled and went to second on a fielder's choice by Hendrickson.  After a strikeout, Burton singled to center to score Labrador and Countiss followed with a single to score Hendrickson for a 10-0 lead.
• The shutout was snapped in the eighth as the Dolphins plated a run on a Zack Szymanski single to score Justin Baker who had reached on a walk.
• The hosts closed the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth as with one out Wilber drew a walk and Cowles singled before Thomas Richardson drove in Wilber with a single and Cowles went to third.  Hayden Champigny then drove in Cowles with a sacrifice fly for a 12-1 lead.

The Builders gave Head Coach Bryan Cave his 599^th career coaching victory.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

• Taylor Gomer earned the win for the Builders throwing seven innings and allowing four hits with nine strikeouts to put his record at 4-3.
• He did have an inning for the record books in the top of the third as he struck out one, allowed two walks but then picked off both runners.
• Labrador was 4-for-6 to lead the team at the plate.  The four hits were a career-high for him as he has had three hits in a game on seven different occasions.
• Countiss was 3-for-5 to match his career-best for hits in a game.  He also had three hits earlier this year against Central Penn College.
• Cowles was also 3-for-5 with an RBI which is a season-high for hits in a game for him.
• Hendrickson scored three runs and was hit by a pitch twice for the sixth time in his career.
• Burton, Countiss and Wilber all drove in two runs each.
• Szymanski was 2-for-3 as the Dolphins (15-11) were held to five hits by the combination of Gomer and Steven Conley.
