Apprentice School senior pitcher Sam Massie was named on Tuesday as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 12.

Massie, an electrician apprentice from Hampton, Va., threw a career-long 6.2 innings on Friday night and topped his career-high with 12 strikeouts as the Builders defeated Virginia Wesleyan College 9-7 in 11 innings.  He allowed five hits in those 6.2 innings to earn the win and put his record at 3-1 on the season.

The Builders return to action on Thursday at War Memorial Stadium against Thomas Nelson Community College.  Game time is scheduled to be approximately 4:30 pm.
