The Apprentice School baseball team swept a doubleheader from Penn-State Mont Alto on Sunday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium. The Builders won 3-0 in the first game before the offense exploded for 14 runs in the second game for a 14-0 victory.
RECORDS: The Apprentice School 4-3; Penn State Mont Alto 0-2
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS:
- Darius Harris was 1-for-2 with a two-run double.
- Maxwell Burcham was 1-for-2 with a RBI
- Cody Hendrickson and Mike Brumfield each recorded a hit.
- Luke Schanback picked up his first win of the season with six scoreless innings. He allowed two hits, walked three and struck out nine.
- Wesley Pierce picked up his first save of the season with a scoreless inning with a strikeout.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS:
- Mike Brumfield went 4-for-4 with three RBI.
- Maxwell Burcham went 3-for-4 and scored three times.
- Brent Byrum and Wesley Pierce each had two hits and scored twice.
- Cody Hendrickson also had a multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 effort.
- Mathew Jensen picked up his first win of the season with five scoreless innings. The left-hander scattered five hits and struck out four.
- William Capps and Tyler Beyel each tossed a scoreless inning to preserve the shutout.
The Builders return to action next week as they host Bloomsburg and Kutztown for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday at War Memorial Stadium.
