Builders Drop Game to St. Vincent

Builders Drop Game to St. Vincent

IN BRIEF: The Builders jumped out to an early 1 to 0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, but that lead was short lived. James Williams and Gevin Nixon opened the day with back to back singles. Williams then would score on a double play and the Builders took a 1 to 0 lead. That lead was quickly erased in the top of the 3rd when the Bearcats scored 3 runs to take a 3 to 1 lead.  After the early run, the St. Vincent starter found a groove and held the Builders scoreless until the 4th inning. In the top of the 4th the Bearcats exploded for 5 runs to stretch their lead to 8 to 1. The Builders cut into the Bearcat lead in the 4th when Maxwell Burcham would come around to score after a leadoff double down the left field line. In the 5th the Builders would add one more run. Hunter Riss led off the inning with a single and he would later come around to score on a Thomas Packert single. The Builders offense kept rolling in the 6th adding two more runs. Brent Byrum led off the inning with a triple to center. Jake Day and James Williams would both double in the inning but the Builders still trailed 11 to 5 as the Bearcats added three runs in the 6th.

Tyler Winegrad took the mound for the Builders and was credited with the loss. Winegrad has earned 2 saves on the year but was making his first start today. He was followed by William Capps and Brian Fritzinger in relief. Fritzinger pitched 3.1 innings in relief and did not give up a run to the Bearcats. The Builders lost this game by a final score of 12 to 5.
