Builders Sweep Owls in Doubleheader

Builders Sweep Owls in Doubleheader

GAME 1

IN BRIEF: Paul Jones made his 6th appearance for the Builders and earned his 5th win of the year, improving to 5-0 on the season. The Builders improved to 12-7 with a dominating 26-0 win over the Owls of Maine-Presque Isle in Game 1 of the doubleheader.

The Builders scored early and often in this game. James Williams reached on an error in the top of the 1st and made his way to third on a past ball and a stolen base. Maxwell Burcham then laced a ball down the left field line and the Builders took a 1-0 lead. Cody Hendrickson would start his 4 for 4 day with a single in the first that would score Maxwell Burcham and the Builders would lead 2-0 at the end of the 1st. Dalton Dye led off the 2nd inning with a walk and the Builders would go on a hit parade. Brian Fritzinger singled, advancing Dye to second base. James Williams would line out to the short stop and Gevin Nixon would reach on an error, scoring Fritzinger. The Builders would go on to add 3 more runs in the inning. The scoring didn't end there as the Builders would explode for 12 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. The Owls pitcher struggled to find the zone and walked in 2 more runs. Cody Hendrickson opened up the flood gates with a 2 run single after Mark Watts scored on an error. At the end of three innings the Builders led the Owls by a score of 18-0. In the 6th Braden Lambert produced two more runs on a double to right center, and the Builders eventually won the game by a score of 26-0.

Paul Jones pitched a complete game for the Builders. Jones was making his 5th start of the season and was looking to improve on his 4-0 record. He did just that and some as he struck out the first 6 batters that he faced. Jones finished the game with 13 total strikeouts and pitched his way to a no-hitter. Jones made history with his performance on the mound in Game 1 and remains unbeaten this season with a 5-0 record.

Maxwell Burcham opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single that scored Lou Picolo.
