Builders Defeat Blues, Complete 3 Game Sweep

IN BRIEF: It was a beautiful day for baseball and the Builders got the job done by defeating the Bluefield State Blues by a score of 3 to 1. The Builders swept the 3 game series and have earned their 14th win in a row. The Builders improved to 24-7 on the season with today's win. 

It was another low scoring affair between these two teams, but the Builders did not need a walk off to defeat the Blues today. The Builders took a 2 to 1 lead at the end of the 1st and Luke Schanback and Thomas Packert protected that lead all afternoon. The Bluefield State starter struggled to find his command early on, and the Builders took advantage. Three walks in the 1st inning led to 2 Builder runs. Cody Hendrickson picked up an RBI on a bases loaded walk. The Builders would add a third run in the bottom of the 5th, Cody Hendrickson picked up his 2nd RBI on a single that scored Maxwell Burcham.

Luke Schanback picked up the win while going 7 innings, giving up 1 run, and striking out 4 batters. Thomas Packert picked up his 7th save of the season by pitching a clean 8th and 9th inning. Packert struck out 4 across the final 2 frames. The numner 1 ranked Builders continued their win streak and are now 24-7 on the season.
