Builders Handle Hurricanes to Win 15th Straight

IN BRIEF: The Apprentice School Builders easily handled the Paul D Camp Hurricanes to win their 15th straight game. The Builders improved to 25-7 on the season with the win and are currently ranked 1st in the USCAA Coaches Poll. 

The Builders never took their foot off of the gas as they defeated the Hurricanes by a score of 10 to 1. The Hurricanes would jump out to a 1 to 0 lead in the 1st, but the Builders scored 10 unanswered to claim the win. A 2 RBI single from Brent Byrum in the 1st gave the Builders an early lead. Cody Hendrickson would add to the lead in the 3rd when he deposited a home run into the left field parking lot, Maxwell Burcham scored on the play and the Builders would extend their lead to 4 to 1. 

Brent Byrum had an incredible performance at the plate, the Junior finsihed the day with 4 hits and 4 RBIs. Byrum would collect 2 RBIs in the 4th on a double to left field. The Builders would add 4 runs in the 7th, first on an RBI single from Gevin Nixon and then on a bases clearing double from Cody Hendrickson. Hendrickson finished the day with 3 hits and 5 RBIs.

Alec Wonders took the mound for the Builders and turned in 5 dominant innings. Wonders would give up 1 run on 3 hits to earn his first win of the season. The Builders bullpen would then combine for 4 no hit innings as the pitching staff held the Hurricanes to one run on the day. John Walton, Logan Mize, Luke Wells, and Hunter Riss would pitch the 6th through the 9th in that order. The bullpen would combine for no hits, no runs and 4 strikeouts in what was a dominant day for the Builders pitching staff.

UP NEXT: The #1 ranked Builders will host the #8th ranked Stratford Cardinals in a double header on Wednesday, April 10th. The games will begin a 1:00 PM at War Memorial Stadium.
