Baseball comes up short against Paul D. Camp, 7-5

Hampton, VA – For the third time in this young season the Apprentice Baseball team faced Paul D. Camp Community College at Historic War Memorial Stadium.  The Hurricanes had taken the first two games, but the Builders were looking to get back in the win column against their fellow Hampton Roads team.  Camp has had offensive success so far this season, so Coach Jones knew that his team had to strike first to neutralize the Hurricanes bats.

The Hurricanes put 2 runs on the board in the 1st inning to take the early lead and then added another run in the top of the 2nd.  However, Jake Day would get the first hit of the game for Apprentice and then steal second to get into scoring position.  Braden Lambert came to the plate and hit an RBI single, driving in Day to trim the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Camden Weston was able to get aboard with a single and then Maxwell Burcham came to the plate and hit his 4th HR of the season to tie the game at 3-3.  Camp would break the tie and add 2 runs in the 5th and 2 runs in the 7th to ultimately get the win over the Builders by a final score of 7-5.

Apprentice will be back in action for a three-game series this weekend as they welcome Bloomsburg into War Memorial Stadium.  Friday's games will be a doubleheader, followed by one game on Saturday afternoon.  Stay tuned to www.gobuilders.com for game updates and recap.
