Builders drop first game of series with Tufts, 9-0

Hampton, VA – The Apprentice Baseball Team was back at home Friday afternoon as they welcomed in Tufts University to War Memorial Stadium for a 9-inning game.  The Builders had won seven in a row coming into the game and were looking to keep their momentum going with strong offensive play.  During their win streak, they have also seen strong pitching from their staff and Coach Jones would send Andrew Castine to the mound to try to set the tone.

Unfortunately, the Jumbos would strike first, scoring 2 in the 1st inning and 3 more in the 3rd inning, to take the early lead, 5-0.  While Apprentice was able to get some offense form Maxwell Burcham, Riggs Ellis, Jake Day and Camden Weston they could not generate enough to put any runs on the scoreboard.  Tufts added another run in the in the 6th and the 8th, followed by two insurance runs in the 9th inning, to take Friday's match-up by a final score of 9-0.

The two teams will be back in action tomorrow for the final game of the series.  The Builders will look to bounce back and get back in the win column.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm.  Stay tuned to www.gobuilders.com and Apprentice social media for score updates and recaps.
