Builders extend win streak to three, with 6-5 win over MACU

Hampton, VA – The Apprentice Baseball team pushed their win streak to 3 games, as they pulled off a come from behind win against Mid-Atlantic Christian University Sunday afternoon at Historic War Memorial Stadium.  The 6-5 victory keeps the Builders in the race for a bid to the Small College World Series, while also giving them their 9th win at home.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning, but hits from Camden Weston, Thomas Packert and Caleb Russell capped off a rally that would end in Apprentice tying the game in the bottom of the 4th inning.  MACU got one back to regain the lead, but the Builders began a comeback as Braden Lambert drove in Riggs Ellis, tying the game again and then in the bottom of the 6th inning, hits by Kyle Whitlock and Matt Phoebus, along with wild pitches allowed Apprentice to retake the lead for good and eventually win the game by a final score of 6-5.

The Builders were led by Phoebus who finished 2-3 with 1 RBI, while also hitting a double.  Caleb Russell also finished with a double and drove in 2 runs for Apprentice.  The Builders will be back in action next Friday, April 1st, for another home game, as they face Virginia State in a doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm.
