Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader With Grace Christian

HAMPTON - The Apprentice School baseball team swept a Friday afternoon doubleheader with Grace Christian, earning an 8-0 shutout in game one before the offense exploded for a 17-5 win in the nightcap.

In game one, the Builders opened the day with seven runs off three RBI singles, a RBI double and a bases loaded walk. The final run of the game came in the sixth on another bases loaded walk.

Nick Redman improved to 6-0 on the season with the win, fanning seven Tigers over five innings.

In the second game of the day, it was Grace Christian who took the early lead off a solo homer in the first, but the Builders answered with six in the second, taking advantage of more pitching miscues by the Tigers. After GCU scored in the third to trim the lead to 6-2, Apprentice put up seven more runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by back-to-back-to-back RBI singles from Jaeden Anderson, Camden Weston and Jett Winslow.

Apprentice added its final six runs in the sixth inning with Braxton Wallace starting the inning with a first pitch crush to left field.

Aiden Henry (4-0) got the win, striking out six over his five inning outing.
