Baseball Finishes Weekend Sweep of Grace Christian

HAMPTON - The Apprentice School baseball team finished off the weekend series sweep Saturday with two big wins over Grace Christian at War Memorial Stadium.

The Builders left no doubt in game one, winning 20-0 after scoring in every frame. Apprentice scored three in the first, one in the second, four in the third, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and seven in the sixth to get to the 20 runs. Hunter Johnson led the way in the contest, going a perfect 5-for-5 and finishing a homer shy of the cycle. Caleb Russell also went 3-for-4 in the game.

Isaac McCallister (2-0) got the win, going six innings of one hit baseball.

The second game was back-and-forth early on, but Apprentice used a 10-run fourth inning to pull away for a 15-7 victory in the series finale. With the game tied 4-4 headed to the bottom of the fourth, the Builders scored the 10 runs off eight hits and three Tiger errors to distance themselves.

Bryce Post (3-0) earned the win, throwing four innings and striking out three.

The Builders will travel to Bryant & Stratton Tuesday for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
