Carta, Lane, Lee Earn Second Team All-State Honors

Three Apprentice School football players were named on Friday to the All-State Division II-III teams by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) and the Roanoke Times newspaper.

Freshman offensive lineman Michael Carta earned All-State recognition by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association.  Carta, a pipefitter apprentice from Albany, Ga., was the highest graded lineman all season and earned first team All-Atlantic Central Football Conference honors.  He started every game this season.

Sophomore defensive back Marlon Lane also earned All-State honors from VaSID.  Lane, a maintenance electrician apprentice from Severn, Md., had 59 tackles, four interceptions, six pass breakups and scored a pair of touchdowns returning an interception 75 yards against Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham and returning a blocked kick 85 yards against Webber International.

Senior defensive lineman James Lee earned All-State recognition from both the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association and the Roanoke Times.  Lee, an outside machinist apprentice from Richmond, Va., finished the year with 45 tackles, 18 for a loss, six sacks along with three blocked kicks.
