Apprentice School senior punter Blake Penix and sophomore defensive lineman Ryan Ransom were named on Tuesday as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Special Teams and Defensive Players of the Week for the week of September 14.

Penix, a senior electrician apprentice from Jesup, GA., averaged 43.6 yards per punt on Saturday which tied for eighth best single-game average in school history.  Three of his five punts pinned Bluefield College inside their own 20 yardline which equals the third best total.

Ransom, a sophomore insulator apprentice from Saluda, VA., had a season-high 11 tackles with 4.5 for a loss in the Builders 46-24 loss to Bluefield College.  The 4.5 tackles for a loss is the seventh most in a single-game in school history, while his two forced fumbles ties the school mark.

The Builders now travel to Washington, DC this weekend to face Catholic University (0-1) at 1 pm on September 20.
