Warriors Top Builders 31-6 On Senior Day

IN BRIEF: Webber International quarterback Billy Pavlock was 14-of-17 for 214 yards and a touchdown while adding 97 yards and two rushing touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a 31-6 win over Apprentice School on Saturday.

ON THE FIELD

  • The Warriors started quickly after forcing a turnover on downs at the Builder 36.  Two plays later Pavlock scored on a 24-yard run to give Webber International a 7-0 lead with 11:21 left in the first quarter.
  • Webber added to the lead in the second as Pavlock connected with Corey Jackson on an eight-yard scoring pass with 10:33 left to go up 14-0. That play closed out a 10-play, 75-yard scoring drive for Webber International (7-3).
  • The guests finished the first half with a Daniel LeZotte 24-yard field goal at the halftime horn to put them up 17-0.
  • In the third quarter, Pavlock found his running legs again breaking out on a 37-yard scoring run to give Webber a 24-0 lead with 10:19 left.  
  • The Builders put together a scoring drive in the fourth quarter as they forced a turnover on downs on the Builder 14.  A 57-yard completion from Deon Lavender to Trevon Johnson got the ball down to the Webber 16.  Following a penalty which put the ball on the eight, Brandon Jordan put the Builders on the board with an eight-yard scoring run with 10:34 left to trail 24-6.
  • Webber answered with a 61-yard scoring drive as Joseph Geck closed out the scoring with a three-yard run with 6:23 left to take a 31-6 lead.


BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

  • Lavender was 9-for-14 with one interception for 113 yards to lead the Builders in the air.  Kyle Elmore caught a team-high three passes for 19 yards, while Johnson, Jordan and Stan Smith all had two receptions each.
  • Jordan was the leading man on the ground with 45 yards on eight carries as the Builders ran for 86 yards as a team.
  • Blake Penix averaged 41 yards per punt with a long of 55 yards.
  • Defensively, Ryan Ransom and Leland Hamilton topped the team with nine tackles each.

The 2014 season comes to an end on November 15 when the Builders travel to Naples, Florida to face Ave Maria University at 1 pm.
