IN BRIEF: The Apprentice School managed to score its first two touchdowns of the 2015 season, but fell 41-14 to Hartwick College on Saturday.
HOW THEY SCORED

• Hartwick got the scoring started on the first play of the Builders as Cory Wood stepped in front of a Caleb Heath pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown and a7-0 lead with 11:59 left in the first quarter.
• The Hawks put up two touchdowns in the span of a little under two minutes early in the second quarter as Tito Pichardo scored on a one-yard run with 14:06 left for a 14-0 lead.  Anthony Rotunno then recovered a fumble from Brenden O'Neill and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown.  Bryan Ransom blocked the extra point attempt as Hartwick took a 20-0 lead with 12:27 left in the half.
• The hosts put up another score prior to half as the Garcia brothers connected on a 21 yard scoring pass from John to Brad for a 27-0 Hartwick lead.
• In the third quarter, John Garcia found Tanner Williams on a 97-yard scoring pass for a 34-0 lead with 4:24 left in the quarter.
• The Builders scracked the scoreboard in the fourth quarter as Heath capped an 11-play, 84-yard scoring drive with a one-yard run to put the Builders on the board down 34-7.
• After giving up a 65-yard scoring run to Billy Pine for Hartwick's final touchdown and 41-7 advantage, the Builders finished the scoring as Heath found Quinton Phillips with a one-yard scoring pass for the 41-14 final.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

• Each team fumbled the ball twice, while the Builders had two interceptions to the Hawks one.
• Dustin Hiner ran for 130 yards on 25 carries for a season-high by a Builders back.  As a team, the Builders ran for 209 yards.
• Three Apprentice School quarterbacks combined for 12-of-25 for 93 yards with two interceptions.  They spread the wealth around as 10 receivers caught passes and no one had more than two receptions.  Derek Banks and Phillips had two each to lead the receivers.
• The Builders last scoring drive was set up after John Pope recovered a fumble from Andrew Kimmel on the Eagles 47.  A 12-play drive commenced with Heath finding Quinton Phillips for a one-yard scoring pass with 32 seconds left.

The Builders will now start a two-game run through the Old Dominion athletic Conference as they will visit Bridgewater College on Saturday, September 18 for a 7pm start at Jopson Field on the Bridgewater campus near Harrisonburg.
