Apprentice School Football Announces 2016 Schedule

2016 Football Schedule

The 2016 Apprentice School football schedule has been released which includes a balance of five away games and five home games.  The schedule includes five rematches from last season, three games against first-time opponents, one renewed contest from two seasons ago and one opponent that the Builders have not played since 2013.   

On September 3rd, the Builders will open the season at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina with a 1:00 PM kickoff.  The Monarchs finished the 2015 season with a 4-6 record and 2-5 record in the USA South Atlantic Conference.  The Monarchs topped the Builders 18-0 in the season opener last year in Newport News. 

The following weekend the Builders will travel back to North Carolina to take on Greensboro College.  This will be the first time that the Builders have played the Pride since 2013.  Greensboro finished last season with an overall record of 3-7 and 2-5 in the USA South Atlantic Conference. 

On September 17th, the Builders will host the Bridgewater College Eagles for the first home game of the season.  The Eagles finished with an overall 4-6 record and 2-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.  Last season the Builders fell to the Eagles 34-14 at Bridgewater.

The Builders will then travel to Brevard, North Carolina to take on the Brevard College Tornados on September 24th.  This marks the first meeting between The Apprentice School and Brevard College.  Brevard College finished with an overall record of 0-11 and 0-7 in the Southern Atlantic Conference. 

The first half of October has the Builders traveling to Alfred, New York to take on the Alfred State Pioneers and to Media, Pennsylvania for a contest against the Williamson College of the Trades Mechanics.  The Builders first win of the 2015 season came at Alfred State with a 44-14 victory.  The Builders will enter this contest with a .500 record against the Pioneers.  This will be the first meeting between the Builders and the Mechanics.  The Mechanics are an independent program that competes in the USCAA.

On October 15th, the Apprentice School Student's Associations' annual homecoming ceremony will take place as the Builders host Louisburg College.  The Apprentice School and Louisburg College met for the first time last season with Louisburg coming out on top 35-2. 

Another first time opponent, the Dean College Bulldogs (add from City, State) will visit the Builders on October 22nd. The Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 6-2 last season and compete in the Northeast Football Conference. 

After a late season bye week, the month of November will see the Builders host two NAIA programs from The Sun Conference.  On November 5th, the Builders will host Webber International University who finished last season with an overall record of 6-4.  This will be the eighth time the two teams have met on the football field with Webber International winning all eight contest.

Senior Day will close out the 2016 season on November 12th as the Builders take on Ave Maria University.  The Gyrenes finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 4-7 and 2-3 record in The Sun Conference.  The two teams last played in 2014 with Ave Maria winning 35-8.
