Despite Injuries, Builders Continue to Fight

IN BRIEF:

Despite having just 14 healthy players on offense, the Builders found a way to defeat Palmetto Prep on the road. Palmetto Prep came into this game undefeated on the 2019 season. A 0-0 tie was broken in the 2nd quarter when Jeremiah Morgan connected for a 42 yard field goal. The field goal would spark the Builders offense and lead to 17 unanswered points. The Builders found pay dirt two more times before the end of the half. First on a 56 yard touchdown pass from Cole Edwards to Kwaytavious Blackwell. Second on a 7 yard touchdown run from Lawrence Reed.

Lawrence Reed carried the ball 26 times for 171 yards and 2 touchdown. Reed's performance comes after a 96 yard performance last week and a 200 yard performance two weeks ago against Keystone College. Reed is averaging 155 y/g over the last three games.

The Builders would score two more times on touchdown runs from Cole Edwards and Lawrence Reed, handing Palmetto Prep their first loss of the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Builders were able to generate 5 turnovers, highlighted by Qua'Shaun Jackson's 2 interception performance. Paul Massey Jr. recorded 9 tackles, 1 sack, and a fumble recovery.

The win moves the Builders to 6-2 on the season.

UP NEXT:

This weekend the Builders are on the road at Southern Virgina. The Knights are currently 3-6 on the season and are coming off a 28-7 loss at Washington & Lee. The Knights are led by Akiva Wedge who is averaging 94.3 rush yards a game. The Knights defense is allowing 176.1 rush yards per game and giving up 33.2 points per game. The Builders will have their backs against the wall as the injury bug just won't leave them alone, but the Builders will roll into Buena Vista, VA ready to fight.
