Joining the coaching staff this year as the defensive coordinator is a name that will ring a bell with long-time Apprentice School supporters, Marc Bacote.

The nephew of former assistant coach and long-time area high school coach Ted Bacote, he joins the Builders after a three year stint as the defensive backs coach at Old Dominion University.  While at ODU, the Monarchs advanced to the Football Championship Series (1-AA) playoffs twice and earned their first win over a Football Bowl Series (1-A) opponent in Idaho in 2013.

He came back to the area after stints at Rutgers University, Morehead State University and at his alma mater James Madison University.  While playing for the Dukes from 1997-2000, he was a member of the 1999 Atlantic 10 co-championship team which earned a NCAA playoff appearance.

Bacote graduated from JMU with a degree in Kinesiology in 2008 and began his coaching career that fall as a volunteer wide receivers coach with the Dukes.
