Men's Basketball Snaps 6-Game Losing Streak In 82-69 Win At Philander Smith

 

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. - Junior Eric Joe scored 19 points to lead five in double figures for Apprentice School as they snapped a six-game losing streak by defeating Philander Smith 82-69 in the second day of the Geese Ausbie Classic on Saturday afternoon.

The Builders started off slowly falling behind 20-12 at the 11 minute mark, but caught fire in the last nine minutes to hold a 40-38 halftime advantage.  In the second half, the Builders held the Panthers to a 12-of-33 performance from the floor (36.4%) as the Apprentice School hit 14-of-23 from the floor (60.9%) to pull away for the 13-point victory.

Arbry Butler, playing in his hometown, had 13 points and six rebounds while senior Eric Ruffin and freshman Adrian Brewer scored 12 apiece and junior Jason Arrington added 11.

The Builders return to the home floor on Tuesday night to face NCAA Division II Chowan University in a 7 pm tipoff.
