Men's Basketball Knocks Off Columbia Union 85-73

TAKOMA PARK, MD. -- Junior Jason Arrington scored 22 points to lead four in double figures for the Apprentice School defeated Columbia Union College 85-73 on Saturday night in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association matchup.

The host Pioneers opened the game scoring the first eight points as an Andre Hardy jumper put the Pioneers up 8-0 at the 17:01 mark.  Apprentice School responded with a 26-4 run over the next 8:51 as an Arrington layup put the Builders up 26-12 with 8:10 left.

In the second half, the Builders held the lead throughout topping as much as 16 points on an Eric Joe free throw with 2:33 left for an 81-65 margin.

Freshman Isaih Harrison added a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds, while Joe and senior Eric Ruffin had 15 points each for the Builders.  As a team, they hit 50% from the floor (32-of-64) and from 50% from 3-point range (4-of-8).  The Builders held a commanding 47-29 advantage on the boards.

Next up for the Builders will be a rematch with NAIA Division II 12th-ranked Bluefield College on Monday night at 7 pm.  These teams faced off December 16 with the Rams holding the Builders off for a 96-90 victory in Newport News.
