DANVILLE, VA. - Junior Antione Paige's layup with 1.2 seconds left capped an 11-point second half rally as the Apprentice School defeated Greensboro College 79-77 in the Averett University Tipoff at the Grant Center.

The win puts the Builders at 4-0 which is the most wins at the start of a season in at least the last 19 years.  That win was also the second against Greensboro in 18 tries.

After a first half that saw four ties and five lead changes, the Pride broke the game open in the second half pulling out to a 55-44 lead on a Lewis Owenby dunk with 12:48 left.  The lead stayed in the 8-11-point range for the next three minutes before the Builders started their rally.

Apprentice School took its first lead of the second half on a layup from Fred Spratley with 3:02 left to go up 71-70.  Greensboro took control again pushing the lead to 77-73 on a pair of Michael Mitchell free throws with 44 seconds left.  Junior Jason Arrington hit a pair of free throws for the Builders to cut that deficit to 77-75 with 33 seconds left. 

The Builders' Eric Joe used his seventh offensive rebound of the game to tie the game on a stick back with 10 seconds left at 77-all.  Arrington responded on the inbounds pass with a deflection into the hands of Spratley who found Paige on a layup for the lead with 1.2 seconds.

Joe was the leading scorer with 18 points as four Builders were in double figures.  Arrington added 16 points, Paige chipped in 13 coming off the bench and Spratley scored 10.

The Builders will now face the host Cougars on Sunday at 4 pm.
