Boxscore

DURHAM, N.C. -- Senior Eric Joe scored 18 points and sophomore Isaih Harrison recorded his fifth straight double-double with 17 points and a career high 18 rebounds as the Apprentice School fell 86-65 to N.C. Central University on Saturday night.

Harrison was named to the B.C. Powder Classic All-Classic team as he had 14 points and 14 rebounds in Friday night's loss to Chowan.  Those double-doubles raised his single season total to 10.

The hosts raced out to a 14-4 advantage, but the Builders responded cutting the lead to 14-13 on a Joe layup with 12:07 left in the half.  Following another burst from the Eagles that pushed the lead to 30-19 left on a pair of C.J. Wilkerson free throws with 6:12 left, Apprentice School responded with a 12-5 flurry cutting the lead to 35-31 on a dunk from Joe with 85 seconds left in the half.  N.C. Central closed the half on a 7-2 spurt for a 42-33 lead capped by a Wilkerson layup with seven seconds left.

In the second half, Wilkerson came out and scored 14 of the Eagles' first 17 points nailing a 3-pointer with 14:42 left for a 59-43 advantage.  The Builders cut the deficit to 10 on a pair of Harrison free throws with 9:43 left for a 68-58 score, but that was as close as they got.

Harrison was 13-of-14 from the foul line which missed the school record of 14 free throws made in a game by one.  His 18 rebounds equals the fourth highest single game total in the last 20 years and is the most since Nathan Robinson also hauled in 18 rebounds against Southern Virginia on Feb. 5, 2005.

Freshman Tevin Andrews had 12 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Andre Henderson added 11 points for Apprentice School (8-8).  Wilkerson was the leading scorer for NCCU (4-15) with 30 points and was the MVP of the BC Powder Classic.

Apprentice School returns to the home hardwood on Tuesday night with a big USCAA contest against rival Southern Virginia University starting at 6 pm.
