Men's Basketball Falls 101-81 To Washington Adventist

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Visiting Washington Adventist University used a 19-0 run midway in the first half to propel themselves to a 101-81 win over the Apprentice School on Sunday afternoon in a United States Collegiate Athletic Association contest.

The Shock jumped out early to a 14-7 lead on a 3-point play from Khalid Martin with 15:32 left.  Apprentice School made one run to cut that lead to 14-13 with 14:05 left on a floater from Andre Henderson.  Washington Adventist then started its 19-0 run with a pair of free throws from Chris Kinney with 13:19 left and closed it with a pair of Martin free throws at the 8:38 mark to lead 33-13.

In the second half, Apprentice School found more of a consistent offensive stroke as Isaih Harrison scored 23 of his game-high 27 points in the final 20 minutes.  The Builders cut what was at one-time a 35-point second half deficit down to 19 with 3:11 left on a Latrone Demiel 3-pointer, but that was as close as it got.

Harrison recorded his 16th double-double of the year with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Tevin Andrews added 19 points and Henderson chipped in with 11 for the Builders (10-13).  Martin and Eric Peguero paced Washington Adventist (8-14) with 21 points apiece.

Apprentice School hits the home hardwood again on Friday night at 7:30 pm against Williamson Trade School and closes out its season on Saturday afternoon against Berkeley College (NY) at 4 pm.
