Harrison Hauls In School Record 25 Rebounds In Season Opening Win

ELIZABETH CITY, NC – Senior Isaih Harrrison joined the 25-25 club and set a school record with 25 rebounds as the Apprentice School jumped out to a season opening 94-53 win over Mid-Atlantic Christian University in the opening game of the MACU Showcase.

Harrison broke a 14 year old school record held by Steve Butler who had 23 rebounds twice in a game against Averett and Mary Washington in the 1996-97 season.  His previous high was 19 against St. Andrews last season.

The Builders jumped out to an 11-2 lead early as Latrone Demiel tipped in a Harrison miss with 15:16 left.  Mid-Atlantic Christian scored the next four points to cut the lead down to 11-6 on a Wayne Lipford free throw with 14:47 left.  That was as close as the Mustangs got in the contest.  Apprentice School pushed the lead to 19 points in the first half on a Harrison jumper with 3:16 left to lead 33-14.

In the second half, the Builders used a 13-4 run over a near four minute span to take a 74-40 lead on a Johnnie Ferebee jumper with 10:12 left.   The Builders found their shooting stroke in the final 20 minutes hitting 25-of-41 from the floor (61%) to outscore the Mustangs 59-35.

Apprentice School used a considerable height advantage to out-rebound the hosts 62-30 as Darrell Fenton nearly had a double-double as well with 11 points and nine rebounds.  Ferebee and Lavontae Thomas chipped in 13 points each to join Fenton and Harrison in double figures.

The Builders will hit the floor again in Elizabeth City on Friday night at 6 pm against the Davis College (NY) Falcons to start day two of the MACU Showcase.
