Coming off the best combined record to start a season in school history, the latest U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Coaches Top 20 polls came out late Monday and the men's team stayed second while the women's team dropped a spot to third.
The men's team enters the Christmas break on a four-game winning streak after winning a pair of games in North Carolina last weekend defeating USCAA rival Barber-Scotia 72-69 and NCAA Division II Pfeiffer University 89-85. Apprentice School trails Rochester College (Mich.) in the Division I rankings with in-state rival Southern Virginia moving into third place. They'll return to action on January 5 in Naples, Fla. participating in the Ave Maria/USCAA Classic where they'll face a pair of USCAA Division II Top 10 opponents and the hosts who are ranked eighth in USCAA Division I.
The women's team hits the holiday break on a 10-game winning streak after knocking off NCAA Division III Averett University 65-59 to raise their record to 10-0, but dropped a slot to third place. They trail defending USCAA Champion Ave Maria University (Fla.) and Briarcliffe College (NY) in the rankings. The Lady Builders will return to action on December 30 at NCAA Division II Mount Olive College for a 6 pm tip.
