Harrison Named PSC In-State Male Athlete Of The Year

Men's basketball senior Isaih Harrison was named on Tuesday as the 2012 Peninsula Sports Club Outstanding In-State Male Athlete of the Year.  He will be presented the award at the PSC Headliners Night on June 18.

Harrison, who will also be named Co-Apprentice School Athlete of the Year with wrestler Marcus Chevres, became a three-time U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association First Team All-American which made him the first one in school history.  He was named to the 2012 USCAA All-National Tournament team and also a three-time honoree by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association All-State College Division team.

The Abbeville, La. native and sheet metal apprentice, set nine career records and 12 single-season records in his final campaign that saw him average 20.9 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.  He averaged a double-double for the second straight year and ended his career as the all-time leading rebounder (984) and second in career points (1748).

This marks the first time that an Apprentice School athlete has received this honor from the Peninsula Sports Club in at least the last 12 years.  The award recognizes a standout Peninsula high school graduate who attends an in-state college or university.
