Men's Basketball Earns Bid To 2013 USCAA Nationals

Men's Basketball Earns Bid To 2013 USCAA Nationals

While Wednesday night's game with Washington Adventist University might be the end of the regular season for the Apprentice School Men's Basketball team, its not the end of their season.

On Tuesday night, it was learned that the Builders had earned a bid to the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Division I National Championships to be held in Uniontown, PA from February 27-March 3.

This marks the sixth year that the Builders have earned a bid to the post-season and the second time they've gotten a bid to go to Uniontown and the campus of Penn State Fayette.  The Builders are 11-4 in post-season action and have won the USCAA National Championship in 2001-02 and 2002-03.

They are the sixth-seed in the eight-team bracket and will face third-seeded Daemen College (NY) who are currently 25-5 on the year.  The Wildcats are a high-scoring outfit averaging over 90 points per game and will provide a stiff challenge for the Builders in the opener.  That game will be on February 27 at 5 pm.  A win will put the Builders into the semifinals on February 28 at 10:00 pm, while a loss will put them into a consolation game on the morning of February 28 at 10:00 am.

Last year the team finished fourth in the tournament after defeating Lindenwood-Belleville in the opener, then they lost to eventual champion Oakwood University in the semifinals before losing to Ave Maria University in the third-place game.
