Three Builders Earn Awards At USCAA Banquet

The Apprentice School had three award recipients on Tuesday night at the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Awards Banquet held at the Nemecolin Resort.

Men's basketball senior Tevin Andrews was named to the USCAA First Team All-American squad for the third straight year.  Andrews joins Isaih Harrison and Charles Holiday as the only three-time USCAA All-Americans in school history.  He is averaging 18.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game while hitting almost 41% from 3-point range.

On the women's team, junior Danita Whitaker was named to the USCAA Second Team All-American squad.  The Rocky Mount, NC native 12.6 point per game and 10.9 rebounds per contest while leading the team at 46.8% from the field.  Her honor marks the 15th straight year that a Lady Builder was named to the USCAA All-American team.

Junior  Brittanie Herriott was named to the USCAA All-Academic Team.  To earn the honor, the Virginia Beach native had to carry over a 3.5 grade point average.  She is a maintenance electrician apprentice.

The men will open tournament play on Wednesday at 5 pm when they face Daemen College in the first round of the Men's Division I tournament.
