Andrews Named First Team All-State By VaSID

Apprentice School senior men's basketball standout Tevin Andrews was named to the first team All-State College Division team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors on Monday.

Andrews, a rigger apprentice from Pike County, Alabama, averaged 18.5 points and 10.2 rebounds this year as the Builders went 17-10.  He had 12 double-doubles this year and scored 25 points or more in six games.  Andrews topped the team in 3-pointers (51) and steals (43) while third in blocked shots (28).  He hauled in a career-best 19 rebounds against Barber-Scotia College and was a three-time USCAA All-American.

This is the second time that Andrews was recognized by the Virginia Sports Information Directors as he was a second-team selection in his sophomore season.  His first-team honor is the third straight year the Builders had a first-team selection.

VaSID names 27 all-state teams in 15 sports each year, as well as an academic all-state squad and an all-sports champion in both the university and college divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a University or conference in the state of Virginia.
