CONCORD, NC – The Apprentice School men's team rebounded from its first loss of the season on Saturday to defeat Barber-Scotia College 79-63 in the final game of the Barber-Scotia Shootout on Sunday afternoon.
The Builders, who lost on Saturday to West Virginia Tech 91-75, were topped in scoring by Jay Melendez with 19 points and Darrell Fenton with 12. Rodney Goodman had 10 points and Jamal Curry had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds. After holding a 37-32 lead at halftime, the Builders opened the second half on a 15-2 run and were never headed from there.
Apprentice School will now travel to NCAA Division III 25th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan College on Tuesday night for an 8 pm tip at the Batten Center.
