Apprentice School sophomore Jay Melendez was named the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Division I Player of the Week for the week ending December 15.

Melendez, now a two-time winner this season, averaged 26 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots in a 2-1 week for the Builders.  In a win over Johnson University (FL), Melendez had career-highs with 30 points and 17 rebounds.

He is currently third in the USCAA in scoring (20.7 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (9.6 rpg) as the Builders enter Thursday night's 6 pm home game with Elizabeth City State with an 8-4 record.
