The Apprentice School basketball teams return to the home floor starting on Friday night with the 2014 Martin Luther King Classic – being played in the NEW Apprentice Athletic Facility. The Lady Builders will open at 5:30 pm on Friday against Bennett College, while the men will play around 8 pm against Lindenwood University-Belleville.
In between games on Friday night, there will be a ceremony to honor the six national championship winning teams, individual national championship winning wrestlers and golfers with a Banner Raising Ceremony starting at 7:30 pm. If you were a member of a national championship winning team, or won an individual wrestling or golf national championship, you are invited to participate in the ceremony. Also on Friday night, the Apprentice Alumni Association will have a reception starting at 4:30 pm in the student lounge on the second floor. If you are a member of the Apprentice Alumni Association and wish to attend the reception, please contact one of the following by Wednesday. On Saturday night, the Apprentice Athletic Club will sponsor a social in the student lounge starting at 5 pm for its members prior to the 6 pm start of the Apprentice School men vs. Williamson Trade. If you're a member of the AAC and wish to attend, please contact Judy Hester at 757-688-2512 by Thursday.
On Sunday, The Apprentice School will be sponsoring a student social in the student lounge for all active apprentices and one guest to enjoy a pizza social starting at 12 pm prior to the last two games of the MLK Classic. No RSVP required, but students should be prepared to show their student ID.
