ON THE COURT: Visiting Washington Adventist University closed the game on a 13-3 run over the last 4:14 as the Shock pulled off a 63-59 win over the Apprentice School on Tuesday night at Apprentice Athletic Center on Senior Night.

In a first half that saw neither team find an offensive rhythm, the Builders used a 7-0 run over a 90 second span late in the first half to lead 26-18 on a layup from Darrell Fenton off an assist from Johnnie Ferebee with 1:13 left.  The Shock matched that with a half-closing 7-0 run as Elliot Meredith drained a 3-pointer at the horn to bring the Shock to within a point at 26-25.

Jamal Curry opened the second half scoring the first six points for the builders to give them a 32-25 lead with 17:10 left.  The Shock worked its way back into the game and tied it 45-all on a Charles Allen jumper with 7:47 left. 

The Builders pushed the advantage back to seven points twice, the last coming on a pair of free throws by Curry with 4:56 left for a 54-47 margin.  Curry connected with Fenton for a layup with 4:14 left to give the hosts a 56-50 lead.  That started the game-ending run for the Shock as they closed the contest on a 13-3 run.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

• Jay Melendez was the leading scorer for the Builders with 17 points and 10 rebounds for his tenth double-double of the year.
• Ferebee and Curry added 12 points each and both were near double-doubles.  Curry had nine rebounds and three blocked shots, while Ferebee had eight assists and six rebounds.
• From the line, Ferebee was 9-for-10 to make him 19-for-20 in the two games this year against Washington Adventist from the foul line.
• Jawaun Lockhart was the leading scorer in the game for Washington Adventist as he had 21 points going 15-of-19 from the foul line.

NEXT UP – FISHER COLLEGE

The Builders now head to the Boston suburbs this weekend as they'll face NAIA Division II Fisher College on Friday night in Lynn, Massachusetts at 6:30 pm.  These teams met last year in Newport News as the Builders scored an 82-73 win.
