The bids to the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Men's and Women's Division I Basketball Championships were announced on Monday afternoon and both Apprentice School teams were selected to the championships starting March 5 in Uniontown, Pa.
On the women's side, the Lady Builders are the #4 seed and will face fifth-seeded Rochester College on Wednesday, March 5 at noon in the main arena at Penn State Fayette. This marks the 11th time the Lady Builders have earned a bid to the nationals and the third time in the last four years that they'll be making the trek to Uniontown. These teams have only met once previously as Rochester College defeated the Lady Builders 66-63 in a tournament at Penn State Brandywine on Dec. 10, 2010.
For the men, the Builders are the #7-seed in the eight-team tournament and will face second-seeded and defending champions Rochester College in a 5pm game at Maltho Gym on the Penn State Fayette campus. These teams have met twice in the USCAA Nationals with the Builders coming away with wins, including a 3rd place game win 84-72 over the Warriors in the 2008 nationals. The Builders have made seven trips to the USCAA Nationals and this marks the third straight year they've earned a bid.
